What are templates?

Updated 22 Oct 2026

Templates define how exported profiles look: your branding, your layout, filled in with profile data.

A template is a .docx file that sets the layout and branding of an exported profile: fonts, colors, sections and their order. When you download a profile, Sourcemint replaces the tags in the template with the data from the profile.

#Why DOCX?

Most staffing and outsourcing teams already have candidate presentation templates in Word, built over years to match their brand and their clients' expectations. Sourcemint works with those files instead of asking you to start again. Every font, color, table, header and spacing detail stays as you designed it, and the data is dropped in automatically.

#How tags work

Tags are written in Jinja, a templating language. For example, {{ summary }} in your Word document is replaced with the candidate's summary on export. Tags can also repeat a block for each experience entry or hide a section that is empty.

#Built-in templates

Sourcemint includes one ready-made template, the Sourcemint built-in template. Find it under Built in on Templates → DOCX templates and download it to use as a starting point.
